Hernandez K's 10, but M's offense can't back him up in series finale loss

4/10 vs OAK by TOM HAYDEN

SAFECO FIELD, SEATTLE, WA. ----

Frustrating to say the least as the Mariners got swept in their first series of the season at Safeco Field in Seattle. Felix Hernandez had a great day, striking out 10 in 7 innings, giving up only 3 hits, but the offense failed to produce runs for him. The M's only connected for 6 hits on the day with 1 run scored. Manager Scott Servais talked to media afterwards and basically said that the Mariners offense needs to "wake up" offensively if they want to win any ballgames. It's frustrating to watch, but I do believe that the series with Oakland was just a slump, and the revamped lineup will snap out of it.

RHP Nick Vincent came into to game in the 10th inning, giving up a solo HR to Oakland's Coco Crisp, the run in which ended up winning the game for the A's. The M's looked to rally in the ninth as Kyle Seager lead off with a double to left, but was unfortunately left stranded.

The Mariners are back for more baseball at Safeco on Monday night, 4/11 vs the Texas Rangers. RHP Hisashi Iwakuma is set to get the start (0-0, 3.60 ERA). He will be facing TEX RHP Colby Lewis (0-0, 4.50 ERA). This one starts at 7:10 PM PAC, 10:10 PM ET on ROOT Sports NW™, listen on 710 ESPN Seattle.

This is Tom Hayden signing off saying Go Mariners! Stay #TrueToTheBlue.
