The Mariners jumped to 20-13 yesterday with a win over the now 15-16 Tampa Bay Rays. With the win, the M's find themselves at this point of the season 1st in the AL West, 1.5 games up on the Texas Rangers. Here's how things played out on Tuesday night in the 6-4 win.
LHP Wade Miley made his seventh start of 2016 on Tuesday. Going 6.0 innings, Miley gave up 4 runs on 4 hits, striking out 6 Rays on the night. Wade earned himself the win (3-2) and now has an ERA of 4.91. RHP Nick Vincent (1.32 ERA), LHP Vidal Nuño (1.80 ERA), RHP Joel Peralta (2.51 ERA) and RHP closer Steve Cishek (0.98 ERA) tossed the next 3.0 innings. Combining for 6 SO, 0 R and 2 H, relief continues to shine. For closer Cishek, he earned his 11th save on Tuesday night with 3 Ks.
Offensively Seattle combined for 11 hits. LF Franklin Gutierrez (.209 AVG) and 1B Dae-Ho Lee (.283 AVG) each homered. (Gutierrez- 1 HR so far this year, Lee- his 5th on the year). For Gutierrez, a 2-run HR in the first inning, and for Lee, a 3-run shot in the fourth inning. 2B Robinson Canó (.307 AVG) and RF Nelson Cruz (.269 AVG) each had themselves a 2-hit night.
