Elias froze by Royals in 8-2 loss

6/24 vs KC by TOM HAYDEN

SAFECO FIELD, SEATTLE ----

LHP Roenis Elias who has been tossing the baseball great for the Mariners lately had a tough night last night in Seattle. Elias went 3.2 innings, giving up five hits, seven runs and only striking out two batters.

Seattle was unable to get the bats going either early, but started making contact in about the fifth inning. LF Franklin Guitterez who was called up on Wednesday was in the line-up. Guitterez connected for a sac-fly which brought in one of the Mariners' two runs. 2B Robinson Canó has been playing great baseball lately as well, for some fans saying that he is finally "waking up" from previous games this year in ways he has played. In just six total games, Robbie brought up his avg. to a .346, but has once again fallen to a now .246 avg.

The 33-40 Mariners will have Thursday night off, and then it is go time against their division rival Angels in Anaheim starting Friday night. This is one of the biggest eye opening series for the Mariners, and I foresee big things from the ball club.
