Iwakuma impressive in 5-0 win over Angels

7/11 vs LAA by TOM HAYDEN

SAFECO FIELD, SEATTLE, WA. ----

M's RHP Hisashi Iwakuma was on fire on Saturday night as he tossed a total of eight innings, striking out six and only giving up three hits. "Iwakuma looked back to his old self" was what pretty much went around the entire clubhouse post game.

Offense connected last night as well for Seattle, as the team combined for a total of nine hits on the night and five RBIs. Mark Trumbo, Franklin Gutierrez, Logan Morrison and Jesus Montero combined for the RBI's, as they all hit well on the night. All-Stat DH Nelson Cruz also contributed with three hits on the night, one of which a double.

The Mariners will play one more for some Sunday baseball at Safeco on Sunday against the Angels to finish the series. Taijuan Walker (7-6, 4.53 ERA) will take the bump. Then, we head into the All-Star break. Tuesday, July 14th, the game will be played in Cincinnati. Tune into ESPN to catch our two all-stars Nelson Cruz, and Felix Hernandez.

This is Tom Hayden signing off saying Go Mariners! Stay #TrueToTheBlue, and watch the 2015 All-Star Game this Tuesday night (July 14th) on ESPN.
